Sugar-Free Lent: Day Six

Sugar-Free Lent: Day Six

It is really weird that the less sugar I eat the more I can smell it. Walking into the dinning room to find my husband eating his bread and marmalade, I could smell the marmalade. Never done that before and I made it!

And in the shops I can almost smell the chocolate bars through their wrappers. Oh, talking about chocolate bars: I actually read somewhere, but I cannot remember where, that a chocolate bar has fewer calories than an apple.

So, is THAT true????

I was searching wide and far but I couldn't find a chocolate bar where that was the case. So it was either a very big apple or a very small chocolate bar but anyway: Weight for weight a chocolate bar definitely has more calories, and wonder, wonder, more SUGAR.

100 grams of apple has about 52 calories but that might depend on the variety. 100 grams of a chocolate bar has between 450 and 510 calories depending, again, on the variety. Both have in common, that they all come in different sizes.

But here it ends what they have in common. 100 grams of an average apple have just 10 grams of sugar.

100 grams of chocolate bar have between 45 grams and 62 grams of sugar per 100 grams depending on the variety.

So now go and look at the wrapper of your favourite chocolate bar.

The good news is that in some supermarkets you get 7 ( in words SEVEN) bars for the same price as 4 ( in words FOUR). What would you buy????

Well, never mind, I'm going to go for the apple anyway!
