Sugar-Free Lent: Day Seven

Sugar-Free Lent: Day Seven!

It is getting tough. I have a headache and cannot concentrate very well. I'm sweating which is unusual for me, I'm normally too cold. My liver and my muscles are aching and I feel as if I'm going to get ill. And I'm hungry.

I don't want cheese and carrot anymore, and it would be nice to have a bit of marmalade on my slice of bread. Or just that vanilla slice I was looking at in the window of the bakery in town. And there were giant doughnuts as well. Not to mention the huge, pink meringues...........

And there are still scientists who argue about if sugar is addictive, and asking for evidence that energy drinks are harmful for children, with other scientists who think that sugar is as addictive as heroin and cocaine.

I don't need a scientist to tell me that I'm addicted to sugar and have now got withdrawal symptoms.

Oh, and I can remember wanting something sweet so urgently that I forced my husband to pull into the car park of the next supermarket so I could get my favourite chocolate bar. I didn't have just one. I had the pack of four because it was more "economic" and I had two of them straight away even before we got home. And the other two were eaten the same day as well, just a little bit later, but I couldn't just stop.

There is only EYECANDY for me at the moment but I prefer to look at bakery shops with vanilla slices and doughnuts, and sticky toffee puddings, oh, and cheese cake.

Well, there might be a reason why the sugar consumption is rising worldwide up to the 171,56 million metric tons (a metric ton being 1000 kg) we are eating today! The more we eat, the more we want.
