Sugar-free Lent: Day Four

Sugar-Free Lent: Day Four

I'm still feeling all right, well almost. I was in a real dilemma yesterday. I'm a volunteer with the "Cleaning Up Devizes Squad" and we do not only sow beautiful wildflower meadows on roundabouts and pick litter around our beautiful little town, we also had a little get-together for the second birthday of this wonderful, important organisation. It was all  well planned ahead and we pre-ordered our menu choices.

And, remember, I'm one of the Pudding-Brigade as well (no meal without a pudding), so I pre-ordered a chicken pie and a STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING.

So Thursday night I was sitting at my computer emailing my friend in Austria what I was going to do at the weekend when all of a sudden, it occurred to me that I won't be able to EAT my STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING on Friday which I ordered on the 25th of January.

I fired off an email to try and cancel it but, no wonder, it was too late. PANIC, what should I do now????

Well, I'll take a box and if all else fails I'll take it home and feed it to my husband, I thought in the end. No panic anymore, just a bit of sadness.

But it shows that you have to be on your toes ALL THE TIME. I was thinking of having that lovely Salami for breakfast today but I had a look at the ingredients list for safety reasons, and THERE it was: Lactose (in Salami????), Dextrose and Sugar amounting to a total of 1,4 gram for a 100 gram of Salami. O.K. , it is not a lot but that is not the point, there should be NO extra Sugar in Salami. So I had an avocado for breakfast and some cheese, at least I know where the lactose is coming from in cheese. I don't know what to do with the salami but it will keep till after Lent.
