Air quality

Air quality

There is a lot in the paper these days about the air quality in- and out doors with schools in London fitting purifiers to get the air clean for their students. Polluted air damages childrens' lungs and can cause heart problems. Here in Devizes we have problems with the quality of the air in certain areas as well. It is bad if you cannot open the window of your room to get a bit of fresh, clean air in.

For that reason I think we have to be specifically careful about the air we have already indoors. We all love a nice scent in our rooms but be wary about what you use as an air freshener or a room mist. Some of those products are actually a lot worse that what you have outside. Try and use something with truly natural ingredients. Be careful with those air fresheners you plug into a socket. I don't know about you but I always get a head ache when I'm in the same room as them.

Don't forget about personal body care items like deodorant or hair spray. They pollute the air as well and can cause asthma and breathing problems as well as head aches. I once read in the papers about a woman whos' son suffered from asthma till she stopped using hair spray. Scented candles are another smelly thing you have to be watchful of because they don't burn as clean as normal candles and can cause health problems.

The good news is that you can get indoor plants that will help to clean the air indoors. The green lily and the rubber tree are two good ones which will absorb the dirt in the air and purify it for you. Here is a little video I found on the Internet for you if you are interested!
