Sugar-Free Lent: Day Fourteen

Sugar-Free Lent: Day Fourteen!

Back to the problems of boring food. I really don't know what to eat anymore. The books were not very helpful. I know I could have cheese and avocado on my bread but it doesn't taste good anymore. I want something different.

I had the sugar-free peanut butter on my slice of bread but IT WAS NOT THE SAME WITHOUT MY JAM! And it stuck to my teeth and was very unpleasant. It is an experience I wouldn't repeat in a hurry.

So I went to the freezer and got out some of my apples and raspberries that I froze in the summer. I put them in a pan and left them to defrost. Then I boiled them down to just a thick paste. I didn't add anything apart from a bit of orange peel I also had frozen previously.

But then I started to wonder: Is that really FRESH fruit? Or is it cheating? I didn't add sugar but I did boil it down on purpose.

Well the problem was, when I tried it is was not too bad but the sugar was missing. It didn't taste how it should have tasted. I put it on cream cheese on my bread but with my homemade jam it would have been a pleasure. It wasn't with the boiled down fruit. I don't think that I'm doing it again so it really doesn't matter if it was all right or cheating.

But at least it gave my symphony in Beige a bit of colour.
