Take Responsibility: Coughs

Yes, it is still January but the day looks promising. I hope, we won't have the same bad surprise like yesterday when the rain came down after a nice sunny morning.

Talked enough about sore throats, that should be history by now and usually sore throats are not particularly persistent anyway.

The persistent bit about a cold is usually the cough. There are some things you can do about a cough but don't forget that they can get into the lungs and can cause a lot of trouble there. So it is always better to get the help of a health professional if you start to feel worse.

But what you can do as soon as you start coughing is, drink plenty of warm fluid like thyme tea. To make a good thyme tea you need to put a teaspoon full of dried thyme leaves or some sprigs of fresh one if you have it to hand, in a big mug. Fill the mug up with hot water and leave it covered with a saucer to stand for 10 minutes. You can add some honey but drink it warm. This will help to liquefy and loosen the mucus so it will be easier to cough up.
